It is the head quarter for one of the tehsils of Jammu district.

It is positioned at mere 17 km distance towards the south from district head quarters of Jammu.

It is surrounded by the region or tehsils of Purmandal, Satwari, and RS Pura. Bishna is constituted with 39 small and medium sized villages having 39 panchayats. These serene villages add to the beauty of this quaint tehsil.

Bisnah is located at average elevation of 292 meters in the region of Jammu. It is located at 32.62 Degree North 74.87 Degree East on latitude and longitude. Bishna is flanked by Purmandal and Satwari tehsil in its north direction with R S Pura and Khour tehsil towards its west.
